Conversations on Sending Your Child off to College

Conversations on Sending Your Child off to College

It’s that time of year again: college students across America are preparing for the fall semester to begin. Millions of students are looking forward to making new friends, attending sporting events, and jumping headfirst into the next chapter of their lives.

But what about us parents left behind?  As they send their children off for higher education, most parents notice changes in the relationship between themselves and their child. They experience anxieties about not being able to be there for their child, and 66% of parents experience grief from “Empty Nest Syndrome.”

On this special College Edition of Celebrations Chatter, we put together a panel of mothers from our offices, all whose children are off to college, to have an open dialogue about what they’re feeling, seeing, and hoping for. Whether they’re sending off their child for the first time, or they’ve already had a few go through, these mothers connect by sharing their stories, opening up about their anxieties, and reliving their proudest moments as parents.

Best,
