There are few people I know who radiate as much positive energy as my new friend, Frank Morano. Frank is the host of “The Other Side of Midnight,” a syndicated AM talk radio program that is live on WABC-77 nightly from 1am to 5am, where he shares his thoughts on his wide-ranging passions and interests. Frank is an expert in so many areas, and it was a pleasure to talk to him about everything from the criminal justice system to how he maintains his interpersonal relationships while hosting a late-night radio program. A proud Staten Islander from birth, Frank shares his passion for his home community with such enthusiasm that he has rightfully earned his self-proclaimed title “Staten Island’s Favorite Son.”

With so many new forms of entertainment available now, AM radio may seem to some like a thing of the past. Frank challenges this notion as a staunch advocate for the format, and points out that when other forms of communication go down (internet, satellites, etc), AM radio can stay on. In fact, Frank and his team kept their station running on a gas generator when Hurricane Sandy shut down most of the city’s power, providing valuable, potentially lifesaving information to people who may not have received it otherwise.
